Rubies are, after diamonds, the rarest gemstones in the world. Besides being highly cherished by royals, this beautiful red stone is even featured in centuries-old fairy tales. Think, for example, of The Wizard of Oz, where Dorothy's famous, magical, red slippers are made of ruby in the film! Furthermore, this 'king of gemstones' is associated with the zodiac signs Aries, Leo, and Scorpio and is the birthstone for the month of July.
