Diamond

Diamond: the eternal symbol of strength and love

The hardest material ever discovered on Earth is diamond. It's the only gemstone composed of just one element. Diamonds are made of pure carbon that crystallizes under extremely high pressure and temperature. This process occurs in the Earth's core, at a depth of 150 to 200 kilometers below the surface. Of all the diamonds found, only 20% are suitable for use in jewelry.

Nowadays, there are also "lab-grown" diamonds. These are created in a laboratory under conditions similar to those found in nature, with high temperatures and pressure. These diamonds have the same properties as traditional diamonds. Only their origins differ. Moreover, these diamonds are up to 50% cheaper, making diamonds accessible to a much wider audience.

A rough diamond

Diamonds are therefore rare on the one hand, because only a small percentage are good enough to be set in jewelry. On the other hand, there are an enormous number of these stones found deep within the earth. Diamonds are highly valuable because scarcity lies in value. Craftsmanship also increases the value of diamonds. A rough diamond is, however, less valuable than a polished diamond.

Sustainability is a broad concept. It essentially boils down to ensuring that people, the environment, and the economy are in balance, preventing the Earth from becoming depleted. That's why lab-grown diamonds are sustainable to use. They are environmentally friendly because mining has no impact on nature.

Enchantment and beauty

The word diamond comes from the Greek word "adamas," meaning "invincible" and symbolizing eternal fidelity. Until the 15th century, diamonds were worn only by kings and rulers. They symbolized power, courage, and invincibility. Today, they are worn by more people with different meanings, such as romance, mysticism, passion, enchantment, and beauty.

Maintenance

Diamonds can withstand a few knocks, but they quickly become dull due to skin oil or soap residue. Clean with lukewarm water, a drop of dish soap, and a soft brush. Rinse well and polish with a lint-free cloth.
