To make your hair fall beautifully, the right length is crucial. Because every vintage necklace is unique and only exists once, you want to ensure it's comfortable to wear. Fortunately, you can easily determine your necklace length at home. Using the methods below, you'll quickly discover which length suits you best.
Measuring an existing chain
Do you already have a necklace that's comfortable to wear and similar to the one you're looking for? This is a reliable way to determine your necklace size.
Step 1: Get a well-fitting necklace
Choose a necklace that drapes beautifully and is comfortable to wear. Grab a measuring tape or ruler.
Step 2: Measure the length of the chain
Lay the chain closed and flat on a flat surface.
Measure the total length, from the clasp to the end, and note the number of centimeters.
Step 3: Determine your chain size
The measured length in centimeters is your chain size. Is your size around 45 cm? Then 44, 45, or 46 cm will fit almost the same in practice.
Example:
If you're looking for a 45 cm necklace, a 44, 45, or 46 cm necklace would be a good choice.
Determine chain length without chain
Don't have a necklace handy but still want to know what length suits you? You can easily determine this by measuring the length directly on your body.
Step 1: Measure the desired length
Use a measuring tape or a piece of string and place it around your neck.
Let the measuring tape fall to the spot where you want to wear the necklace.
Step 2: Note the length
Remove the measuring tape and measure the length in centimeters. This is the length you prefer for your necklace.
Step 3: Determine your chain size
The measured length is your chain size.
Are you unsure between two sizes? Lengths that differ by 1–2 cm usually fit more or less the same.
Example:
If you're looking for a 45 cm necklace, a 44, 45, or 46 cm necklace would be a good choice.
