Blancpain watch 18 kt
Product information
Ladies' Blancpain watch made of solid 18 karat gold. The movement is mechanical, that is, hand-wound. The hours are indicated by gold indices. The watch likely dates from the 1950s or 60s, possibly the early 1970s.
In 1933 Betty Fiechter became the first woman to head a watch company and was appointed director of the luxury watchmaker Blancpain. Her tenure began after she started as the owner's assistant in 1915; he personally trained Ms. Fiechter to run the company's workshops. As director, Betty emphasized the creation of women's watches, particularly with horological complications that had previously been produced exclusively for men's watches.
