Product information

A natural emerald-cut gemstone is set in a 14 karat yellow gold solitaire ring. With a beautiful color like this emerald, this ring is perfect for a variety of occasions and meanings.
Emeralds are among the most valuable gemstones and are sometimes even more sought-after and valuable than rubies, sapphires and even diamonds. The famed emerald mines were discovered more than 3,000 years ago in ancient Egypt and were worked by the Egyptians, Greeks and Romans. Emerald gemstones, known as “the jewel of kings”, have a storied association with royalty. Cleopatra, for example, was known to wear emeralds not only to emphasize her beauty, but also as a clever way to display Egypt’s wealth and opulence. The ancient scholar Pliny wrote admiringly about emeralds, whose vivid green color is a symbol of a beautiful and hopeful spring.

Emeralds are often known for their “jardin” (the French word for “garden”), which consists of inclusions that give each emerald a unique appearance. Although emerald has a hardness of 8 on the Mohs scale, the composition and inclusions make it a stone that should be worn with care.

Emerald is the birthstone for the month of May and the gift for the 20th and 35th wedding anniversaries, but we find this ring perfect for any occasion, or even as a special gift for yourself.
