Gold bow pendant with diamond 14 kt/950
Product information
A beautiful handmade bow design of solid 14-karat rose gold, adorned with platinum-set diamonds across the ribbon-like design. Inspired by the finest High Jewellery works, the gold appears smooth and flowing like fabric.
In the 1940s and 50s, yellow, pink and green gold became popular because platinum was used for military purposes during World War II. Jewellery from this period was bold and cheerful, with gemstones and diamonds covering the designs entirely. Renowned houses such as Van Cleef & Arpels and Cartier embraced multifunctional designs and introduced iconic innovations like the tubogas chain and transformable jewels.
Themes such as flowers, animals, bows and lace dominated the designs, with Van Cleef & Arpels excelling in ribbon and bow motifs. This unsigned pendant, with hand-perforated scrollwork and platinum-set diamonds, displays exceptional craftsmanship. While substantial, the design gives the illusion of movement and can be worn both as a pendant and as a hair accessory, perfectly suited to the versatile elegance of the period.
