Product information
A contemporary treasure, made in 2003 in London, this ring features timeless oval diamonds alongside two purple sapphires. Complementary rather than identical, the purple hues of the sapphires could be seen as a representation of two people.
Sapphires have been recognised as gemstones since antiquity and symbolise wisdom, fidelity and devotion. Although synthetic sapphires may sound like a recent discovery, synthetic corundum (the gemstone group to which sapphire and ruby belong) was developed more than 100 years ago, in 1902 by the French chemist Auguste Verneuil. His methods are still used today.
Sapphire is the birthstone for September and the traditional gift for a 5th wedding anniversary. Fully hallmarked for 18 karat gold, London, and bearing a date mark indicating 2003.
