Vintage gold brooch with a rose-cut diamond, 14 kt
Product information
This Georgian-style brooch is fully set with rose-cut diamonds and features a large central diamond surrounded by a crown of graduating smaller rose-cut diamonds.
Rose-cut diamonds were first developed in the 1500s; they became popular in part because of advances in candle-making — as candles became more readily available, diamonds with facets that flashed and sparkled in candlelight were highly sought after. Rose-cut diamonds prevailed in the Georgian era (1714–1837) and remained popular in the Victorian era (1837–1901).
Amsterdam and Antwerp were cutting centres known for their ability to produce rose-cut diamonds of exceptional quality. So we ask, what better symbol of local pride or souvenir of a well-spent time in Amsterdam than a brooch set with a rose-cut diamond?
Rose diamonds are foiled and should not be exposed to water.
