Vintage gold Fabergé pendant 18 kt
Product information
Fabergé, best known for its imperial Easter eggs and its association with Russia’s last royal family, is one of the most famous jewelers in the world. In 1885 Tsar Alexander III commissioned Fabergé to make a magnificent Easter egg for his wife, Empress Maria Feodorovna.
The empress was so impressed that the tsar continued the tradition of presenting the empress with a Fabergé Easter egg containing a surprise every year; a total of 52 eggs were made for the Romanov family.
Easter was the most important festival in the Russian Orthodox Church, where colorful eggs were interpreted as a symbol of the resurrection of Christ. Fabergé’s workshop was renowned for its beautiful hardstone creations, detailed multi-tone gold works, the invention of 145 new shades of enamel and its breathtaking pieces featuring traditional Russian and Neo-Russian motifs.
This egg pendant continues the tradition of exceptional craftsmanship, with beautiful red enamel enclosing a red guilloché enamel. In the center of the pendant is a fleur-de-lis set with a total of 0.04 karat F-color diamonds of VS clarity. Fully signed by Fabergé and numbered 33/1000.
