Product information
This ring is a heavy, solid statement piece and has an incredible presence on the hand. The ring is set with an agate gemstone and the sides are decorated with flaming swords.
The flaming sword (or ‘flamberge’) appears in swords from many countries. Masonic lodges have also used swords with flames on the blade in their ceremonies, linking them to the flaming sword from the book of Genesis. This could very well have been the prized possession of a Freemason, or perhaps the flamberge decoration refers to the fact that a wavy blade is harder to break than a straight blade, and that the ring with such motifs could therefore have been worn by its owner as a symbol of strength.
This heavy ring is a beautiful piece of jewellery and would make a meaningful gift. Assayed for 14 karat gold, made in the Netherlands after 1953.
