Product information
In the style of the Art Deco is this ring set with a brilliant-cut diamond of 0,86 karat, surrounded by natural rubies in caliber cut in a ring mounting that is made entirely of precious platinum. An elegant under-gallery is provided with graceful platinum filigree.
As an addition to the delicate details, millegrain decorates each platinum rail between the rows of natural rubies. This ring is made of precious platinum and is a tribute to the geometric Art Deco designs of the 1920s.
Synthetic rubies and sapphires were first developed in 1873 and were preferred by Art Deco designers to achieve their geometric designs; the uniformity of the gemstone material allowed designers to create jewelry of the machine age with beautifully matched gemstones. The Art Deco period takes its name from a Paris exhibition in 1925 where the chic new geometric style that arose after the end of the First World War was celebrated.
A freer style was celebrated and women who embraced the flapper lifestyle refused to return to social constraints. Instead they chose a free style and self-expression with exuberant jewelry and looser clothing. Sparkling jewelry was a delight after the austerity measures during the First World War. This ring is contemporary, yet faithfully made in the Art Deco style; even the back of the ring is intricately detailed.
