This brooch is made in Victorian style and is a vintage treasure. Rich rose-gold cannetille surrounds and adorns the gold at the center of this brooch.
Although it is a faithful reproduction of a Victorian brooch, the modern hallmarks tell us that this particular brooch was made after 1953.
Cannetille was very popular in the 1820s–1830s because precious metals were very scarce after the Napoleonic Wars. Cannetille was then the perfect medium for making Jewellery, since this technique uses a very small amount of gold to create a very large piece. Cannetille is still produced today, for reproductions of antique Jewellery and especially for traditional regional costumes.
