At Vintage Jewellery, we would like to honor the timeless beauty of Audrey Hepburn by inspiring a ring and pendant in our own collection on her. Audrey Hepburn was an icon of style and grace, she wowed the entire world with her extraordinary talent and timeless charm. From her remarkable career in Hollywood to her admirable love life and personal jewellery collection, Audrey remains an inspiration to many to this day.
Audrey Kathleen Ruston was born May 4, 1929, in Brussels, Belgium. Her remarkable history began in a time of turmoil and change, but it was this very background that shaped her resilience and determination.
Audrey's early childhood was marked by the aftermath of World War I and the rise of Nazism in Europe. Her parents were no longer happy together at a young age and divorced, after which Audrey moved to the Netherlands with her mother. Audrey experienced the occupation here, suffering from food shortages and seeing firsthand the disruptive effects of war. Despite all the difficulties of her childhood, Audrey had a passion for dance and theater at an early age. Ballet lessons were the first step to eventually making her dream of being a professional dancer a reality. She eventually ended up in London, where she trained at the renowned Marie Rambert School of Dance. Only here again Audrey had no luck for a while and suffered an injury so severe that her dream of pursuing a career as a dancer came to an end. But not to worry because this opened new doors for Audrey yet again, namely a career as an actress.
It was with her role in the film "Roman Holiday" that she finally made her real breakthrough in Hollywood. For this role she also won an award, namely an Academy Award for Best Actress. Audrey possessed an innocent charm and had a natural elegance that could really touch audiences and brought her international fame. Audrey would later go on to star in a series of iconic roles, including that of Holly Golightly in "Breakfast at Tiffany's" (1961) and Sabrina Fairchild in "Sabrina" (1954). In addition to her career as an actress, Audrey found charity very important, so she was an ambassador for UNICEF. Consequently, she traveled around the world for UNICEF to draw attention to the needs of children in developing countries. Her fanatical efforts and commitment to humanitarian issues earned her the Presidential Medal of Freedom, which is the highest possible civilian award in the United States.
Audrey's legacy goes beyond her exceptional talent and charitable work. It is safe to say that she will forever remain an icon of style and grace, and her influence on the world of fashion, film and charity is still felt today.
It is safe to say that Audrey's love life was as fascinating as her career as an actress. She married a total of two times and had several romantic relationships with famous men, these relationships greatly colored her life. The first man Audrey was very happy with and married was actor Mel Ferrer. They starred in several films together and shared a passion for art and culture as a couple. Their marriage lasted fourteen years before they separated in 1968.
After this divorce, Audrey started looking for true love again and found it in 1969. Her second marriage was to Italian psychiatrist Andrea Dotti, with him she would have a son together named Luca Dotti. Only Audrey had no luck in love as their marriage ended in 1982. Her love life attracted a lot of media attention, so there were many gossips and people speculated about it. But the various stories that circulated also provided a human aspect to her life that seemed otherwise perfect. Thus, Audrey remained an admirable and approachable figure to many people.
